Renting flat with cladding

Hi all,
we are planning to rent our flat that has flammable cladding that should be replaced, however we don’t have a timeline for that. The last unconfirmed timeline says it’s going to take 3-5 years.
As temporary measures we have a fire alarm installed in the building that connects all flats and the policy is currently get out.
We are wondering if we should put something in the tenancy contract that mention that. Realistically if the contract is 12/24 months long, nothing is going to happen but we don’t wan to be in the situation where things move faster than expected and we haven’t disclosed with tenants about the cladding.
Are there any guidance on adding such a thing in the contract? We have no idea of the right wording to use

Thanks!

Given the seriousness of the issue, I would strongly urge you to seek legal advice on letting the property. If the advice is to go ahead, then I would think that putting something in both the advert and the tenancy documentation would be essential.

Is that a typo for “set out”? What policy are you referring to?

I think “get out” is the policy for evacuation if the fire alarm goes off. The policy prior to the Grenfell fire was to “stay put” and wait for help.

I dont think it is a typo quite a lot of these flats and complexes have a policy they tell the tenants that if the fire alarm sounds get out (seems obvious but youd be surprised) I think thats what the OP is referring to

ah yeah… that makes sense. Thanks guys.

yes, that’s correct, thanks
