Hi - we are using OpenRent on a student HMO for the first time, this is great platform and easy to generate adverts etc.
We’ve agreed and signed a contract with a group of four students and the issue is that the platform automatically asks for a months rent and he security deposit now, with a move in date 9 months away.
They are baluking at this as it’s approx £900 each, and they (and we) are more familiar with placing a deposit now and paying the first months rent just before moving in.
We can’t see a way of adjusting this - has anyone come across this and found how to defer one of the payments?

Yes, we’ve seen this before. If you go to your listing, and click “See Payment Status”, it will take you to the page showing the current payment status and your options. There is a section at the top that says:
You can click that link to stop reminders going out to the tenants, which will be re-activated automatically 1 week before the move in date if the final balance still hasn’t been received.
This isn’t the default option, as by allowing the tenants this option you don’t have much protection in the event they decide not to pay the final balance. But if it’s your preference, then you can follow the steps above.
