Should they have changed the deposit?

I rent a house and it was started under a joint tenancy and the deposit in both our names (as per certificate etc) was protected in the DPS 7 years ago.
2 years later, the ex moved out and the tenancy was up for renewal and so a new one was created with just my name on it - I assume now a single tenancy?
I was given a section 21 last week by the landlord and got a message to say the details of my DPS had changed - basically they had never taken my ex off the deposit and so when they’ve realised, they’ve just removed him.
From what I can gather, when the tenancy changed from joint to single, the deposit should have also been changed but it wasn’t. Where do I stand on this?

It doesn’t seem to affect you. Your deposit is still lodged and linked to your name, so all will be good when you move out.

I was told that as its gone from a joint tenancy to single tenancy, it should have then been changed over into a deposit in just my name but now you’re saying thats not the case - is this correct?.

I don’t know. My point was, why does it matter? Your deposit is still protected, you are not out of pocket. Or am I missing something?
