Single mum tenant

Hi,

My flat was rented to a single mum and she has a 1 yr old daughter Ier since last year. Currently, I am planning to move back to my flat to live. I have sent a section 21 to my tenant. She just resigned council flat as on waiting list. She suggested me to try Possession hearings and orders at court. Which may help her to get a council flat faster and help me to get my flat back soon.

May I ask if any landlord has deal with a situation like that before?

Many thanks!

Connie

This is a standard response. The Council will have told the tenant to stay put until the bailiffs arrive or they wont help. However, you should let her know that it almost certainly wont be a council flat. More likely emergency accommodation, eg a b&b room.

Tell your tenant that waiting for eviction will likely ruin her credit rating and chances of good references.
Tell her the councils standard advice is just delaying the inevitable and causing her and the LL a lot of unnecessary stress.
David 122 above is exactly right in his observation.
The council are no one’s friend.
This situation could easily unravel and get nasty esp with a child involved, you could be waiting a long time go get back into your flat
Not trying to frighten you but ensure you have a planned contingency in case you dont get the keys back on time
