We had a holding deposit but the tenant wrongly out an infant on the contract so we had to cancel rent now and the deposit was returned to him. There is a big problem though the tenant and us as landlords are blocked from rent now - I wrote to openrent to manually unlock it but they said oh the tenant has received his money he can unlock rent now but he can’t it is still locked with an old date. Anyone any ideas or a fix because I may decide to abandon openrent I have had so many issues. I have once again written to openrent but they say they will reply in up to 24 hours and they did not resolve it last time
Not quite sure what your issue is as your message seems garbled. Unclear what an ‘tenant wrongly out an infant on the contract so we had to cancel rent now’ means but maybe wait 24h (equivalent of turn off and turn on again) before you get tenant to try giving you holding deposit again and doing a new contract.
You can’t blame OR if tenant entered something wrong and I expect they try to avoid duplicates being created either by humans or malicious bots..

yes I should have checked the rent now before proceeding and yes accept it was my error but OR replied generically to my question. staring that the tenant has received his money back and should be able to start rent now either now ir when money is in bank they said 2/3 days. The three day wait is too long and rent now is dulled out and blocked and I believe they should be able to free it manually to restart the process.
@Helena11 maybe just try creating a duplicate listing get tenant to send application/holding deposit to that/using the button on that copy instead?

Thank you David - yes I had thought of that but of course it involves advertising again I believe ( or can you create a private listing) The fact is the tenant has already paid a second holding deposit - I cannot see evidence of this and the link I sent him c/o OR advice centre did not work to start Rent now. On the tenants detail it just has in faded writing ‘rent now cancelled’ and so impossible to restart rent now.
Apart from the link that did not work OR has sent a few generic replies (I suspect) and these did not help. We have written to OR advice again issuing another I think fourth request to solve this.

If you have paid for OR’s rent now service and tenant did something wrong on providing deposit they should be able to refund deposit, reset and you start again or at worst refund you as you’ve simply not received the advertised service, and then you can try again either with a new listing or use a different supplier (such as hello n we igh bour )
It may be the OR system is wrongly treating the deposit refund as if the application was withdrawn in which case I can see why they might not want the same tenant applying again
