Yet again a poor standard

@cheesecake

“Maybe you’re all..”

There’s not a TV show called ‘lovely landlords great tenants’ tho, is there?

Truth is that there are good tenants and bad tenants whom landlords complain about, and good landlords and bad landlords whom tenants complain about.

Most landlords are trying to pay a mortgage on a property they have worked hard to buy and they are taking a risk on anyone they rent to- who may trash it or just not pay. They can’t tell the mortgage Co 'sorry I don’t have the £ this month" - so yes they need to check financials. You would do the same

And many tenants are good tenants too. Who understand there are good and bad landlords too - don’t tar us all with the same brush

Most LLs posting here are trying to help - it does nobody any good to let LLs be rogue as it’s all the others who get taxed and attacked by the govt and media - but they do (understandably) sometimes get annoyed or fed up with people whingeing.

You complain but when given advice on where to seek help - just keep complaining… ? This undermines your credibility somewhat. Compare this thread with another where a tenant had asked for advice, been offered it Feeling slightly discriminated against Or this one where a tenant experienced ageism Landlord refused viewing as I am RETIRED! - #27 by cheesecake and received sympathy and empathy

I’ve said already- if a property isn’t safe get the council to inspect- they have the power to order LL to fix and if they dont, issue a very large fine

“In England, landlords who fail to obtain a valid Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) face financial penalties of up to £40,000 per breach. Local councils actively issue fines and can execute remedial notices. With “no-fault” evictions abolished, landlords face an increased burden to prove they took “all reasonable steps” to gain tenant access”

See eg

Source: Fire & Electrical Safety First landlord fined for lack of EICR

Maybe you’ll keep complaining incessantly and playing the victim card - some people do - or maybe you’ll actually do something about the safety issues if these are genuine. Think what matters to you and is productive use of your time and your life. But remember nobody ever had on their tombstone “cheesecake was loved and cherished especially for all the time and effort spent whingeing online about their LL”

Good luck
