15hrs free childcare and property income

15 hours free childcare is available from the government in September 2023 for those earning less than £100k for children under 3. A similar scheme is already in place for 3 year olds, with the same rules.

Does anyone know whether property income counts towards this £100k? If so do they look at current earnings or the previous year?

Any assistance from anyone already claiming these vouchers gratefully received.

You earn over £100k and want tax payer to fund baby sitting for your kids?

Income is income.

The £100k is based on you adjusted income which is is your income subject to tax(which includes property income) less pension contributions or charity donations.

If you are very marginally over the £100k level you could make a pension contribution or charity donation which would make you eligible if it brings your adjusted income below £100k.

It is based on your expected earnings in current year.

Thanks Richard really helpful. Does that mean that the gross or net salary should be putdown on the form. If gross salary then do I just minus the amount I pay in pension contributions? If I have salary sacrifice share by scheme I’m assuming this can’t be used to reduce income.

I didn’t say any of those things. I’m understanding the rules

It would be based on your gross income and you deduct the gross pension contribution that you make. Share save schemes wouldn’t reduce your adjusted income.
