Autistic companion dog

Im struggling to find a property because i have a trained companion dog. What i am finding is estate agents are saying because of this or that the landlord deems the property unsuitable for pets. This is an easy way to get around the law, im not stupid.
Im a respectable person, disabled, striving to work self employed, studying, have great credit record - however i have a small trained, clean, healthy and well behaved jrt.
Im looking for a 1-2 bedroom property in or around Horncastle in Lincolnshire so that i can be within easy reach of family.
If a Landlord reads this who has a property that would suit my needs I would very much appreciate your contact details. I am looking for something long term, preferably to stay there.
Thank you for reading this.
(I do appreciate that some landlords just do not want animals in their properties, I used to rent out property, so I get it)

Paula you alleged in your title that this dog is an “autistic companion dog” is this an officially recognised “assistance” dog? Can you get some form of documentation from a medical professional saying as such this MAY help your cause if its trained then which agency/organisation trained it can they provide documentation again not saying this WILL guarantee you a property but am sure you can understand ANYONE could say their dog was an “assistance dog”

Hi Gary, yeah, my wording is perhaps not quite right. My dog is trained as an autistic companion. So im not sure what category she fits. We got her to soothe meltdowns from sensory overloads. I could probably get a letter, and one from my vets too. Because she’s a very well behaved dog, unlike some typical jrt.
It just got to me the other day when a estate agent used clever wording by saying because their clients property didnt have an enclosed garden at the front the landlord considered it unsuitable for dogs. A brilliant way to get around the law. My daughter lived in a rental for several years and that had no garden. I would regularly stay with my dog and there was never a problem. Shes trained to do her business in the smallest of areas. This is what i feel people misinterpret. Shes not unruly, shes quite, attentive and a loving autustic companion.
However, thanks, I hadnt thought about getting a letter. Hopefully that will help.

David Smith , a reputable source, ( previous n r l a legal council and partner at JmW) taught that there is no legal obligation for companion animals ( I heard that at a course he gave last year) .
Currently there is no legal requirement to mandate pets either .
Solicitors , such as Tessa Sheperson, advise landlords to see if the property is suitable too.
When RRB comes in it looks like the law will favour you but not until then .

Ah, that makes sense, thank you.

Ill just keep on looking, hopefully, somewhere will become available pretty soon.
