Boiler failure during the year of tenant stayed

Hi, my tenant just moved out, I just did a gas safety check, found out an issue with the boiler, the reading is too high, it’s not recommended to used. I’m waiting for further check by engineer. If i need to fix or change the boiler, May I ask if I can reduce the cost in my tenant deposit? Because I did a gas safety check just before she moved it, it was fine.

Hope to hear from you. I appreciated your advice.

Are you suggesting your tenant somehow damaged the boiler?

At the end of the day a gas check is only good for the day it was done.

Unless you have evidence that the tenant damaged the boiler, its a landlords responsibility.

what reading are you talking about?
