Can a landlord asking for a holding deposit outside of Open Rent? That is to have the deposit to be credited directly to his bank account?

A Landlord can ask for anything Its up to you to decide the risk
But is it common? Do all listings have the option of using the ‘rent now’ or do only some listings (where landlords have paid for this service)?
The landlord should provide you with evidence of ownership of the property before asking for money. If he hasn’t done this, you could ask for it first.
I always request a deposit outside of rent now, as I don’t use it. I like to be in control of (almost) all aspects. Basically I do the job better than anyone I’ve ever entrusted.
