I wanted to enquire about Landlords profile name not matching their legal name/registered owner on the land registry.
Can a landlord use a display name or nickname on their OpenRent profile that differs from their legal name, provided the correct legal name is used on the tenancy agreement?
It isn’t an immediate red flag to me as I understand people have preferred names especially if their legal name isn’t a westernised name or they want to somewhat protect themselves for privacy/safety reasons. I just wanted to check as I couldn’t find any official Open Rent information on the matter or what others think.
I dont see why the user profile name on openrent is relevant to anything, whatever you put - it wont appear on the tenancy agreement. If that needed to be your legal name then OR would tell us when you set up the chat account.
Anyway the name on the tenancy agreement might be different from you as an individual if the legal LL is a company
Good shout on your LL being a registered company, that of course would show up differently on a users profile to the tenancy agreement.
And also thank you for mentioning about the profile name not being a requirement to be your legal name from OR. That was the case joining as a tenant (you could put anything and are able to easily update it) I just wasn’t sure if it was the same for a LL.
