Combined salaries of couple considered in affordability check?

When using the Openrent full referencing checks, I understand in order to pass the affordability the prospective tenant must have a gross salary of 2.5 times the yearly rent. My question is, if renting to a couple where neither meet this criteria individually, is the combined income of the couple taken into account in order to pass the affordability?

Yes, their respective share of the rent will be considered

Oh good. So I’d still be able to take out the rent insurance even if neither tenant met the affordability individually (but did combined)?

Isn’t it net salary rather than gross for 2.5x?
