Credit Check mid tenancy

Hi, can a landlord request a credit check mid tenancy?

As a LL, I’m trying to imagine why. Has there been an issue with rent payments?

Was a credit check carried out prior to occupancy? How long has the T been in the property?

I’m not sure what value, if any, a credit check would serve for a LL who already has a tenant in the property except to verify information that they feel may not have been accurate with the application or T’s current claims about affordability of rent.

Hi, the landlord is saying that she is changing insurance to Open Rent from another company and they want a credit check done to get the new insurance clear.
Woman with 2 small children been in the property for 4 years.
I did think it was strange as every month paid to date and never any arrears.

Sounds perfectly reasonable in doing another credit check when changing insurer.

Thanks Mark10 just wanted clarification.

Although, I have to say that in 30 years of renting property, no insurer has ever required this of me.

I assume they mean rent guarantee insurance which would require credit check. Standard insurance doesnt.

Rent guarantee insurers ask for credit check, sorry I should’ve specified, they may only ask that you have one rather than having to present it at time of starting policy.
