Hello. Yes they wanted the same from me too but told me £2000, before a viewing. I had gotten into contact with open rent and explained and they said scammers will tend to use Facebook market place the most.
It was a scam as open rent never ask for money before a viewing. It was too good to be true!

Just awful. So glad we were able to pick up on the fact that it’s a scam. He also sent me a picture of his passport and told me that he is a police officer working in Dundee!
How do we go about reporting this?

Yes he told me that too. He said he was a police officer but visiting family in Dundee that’s why he has gone through Open Rent

Definitely appears to be a scam .
There’s a lot on Facebook market place who say they are out of the country and get Air b&b to deal with the viewings , but you’ve got to pay a months rent upfront before actually viewing it and they give you a few days cooling off period and will refund your money if you don’t like it . Scam scam scam!!!
Always view before paying any money and check the land registry for £3 to confirm ownership
