Do I need professional memberships

Hi
I will be a new HMO landlord and I’m going to use OpenRent to advertise, do viewings, onboarding, deposit etc.
I only plan to do regular checks and be contact point for maintenance issues, do I need to join ICO or PRS or anything like that?
It’d be me as a member of the public not as an employee of some property company

Youd be the HMO Manager as well as the landlord, and HMOs usually require a lot more management than family tenancies.

I would suggest you join a landlords association and read avidly or do some training. The Councils HMO licensing ts & cs will also be important, even if yours is not licensable.

You will certainly need to register with the ICO and create your own GDPR privacy notice, which you would give to applicants at an early stage. You dont at this stage need to register with a redress scheme, but watch this space.
