Someone on here explained how this insurance business worked but don’t know where if anyone can find it. (It may have been David122 - not sure)
As I remember the basics of their explanation, is that each incident has an excess and would need to be approved by their loss adjustor and they will not fork out for a general clean up or unlimited claims.
Plus the premium increases with each claim and this too, would soon be out of people’s budgets.
I would not rent to someone with pets again either. My current tenants have a ‘medium sized dog’ which gets bigger each time i see it! It makes getting anything done to the property really difficult because the tenants only want workmen to come when the dog is in day care! A very unanticipated problem but a total pain when their boiler broke and they kept refusing to allow people round to quote & do the subsequent work.
This is a message for Geoff. Can you please tell me where a 67 year old woman can get a mortgage in England? After owning my own home, which I worked bloody hard to pay for, I unfortunately met and married a controlling bastard. He then decided to spend my money to buy a shithole in France. Now, money gone, controlling bastard walked out two years ago. So dont talk to me about my menagerie of pets. My animals are better cared for than a lot of kids, thats judging from my inlaws who breed like sodding rabbits just for benefits. Do not prejudge.
@mariarout916 Do you have a decent pension pot? Lloyds will lend to retirees upto 80 years old, others upto 85, with terms ending upto 95 years old. Need a good deposit and be able to afford repayment clearly. Maybe interest only is an option. Speak with a good broker.
Thanks, but I only receive state pension and the higher daily living rate of pip, but thank you for your reply, much appriciated
life is difficult when renting with pets. i have worked in hundreds of rented homes with pets and owned homes with pets ONE guess which homes are better looked after and do not pong… Law of averages rules and some pet owners will be offended but I have seen this first hand. So NEVER will I accept pets and no law will change my mind or force me to do what I do not want to do. Landlords .Are you with me?
Please, I do not need negative replies like this. I have seen first hand how some people do not look after their kids and the home that they live in. Unfortunately I married into a family like that. I remember in one house being told to put a cup into the sink. Could I find the sink? Could I hell. They were renters and seemed happy to live like pigs in shit
My dogs do not pee or poop indoors. They do their business outside, which I pick up and dispose of. They do not go upstairs or get on my furniture, and they do not touch their food until they sit, stay and I tell them they can have it.
Hi Jane. I warn all my tenants they are not allowed pets and nobody else’s pets are allowed on the premises or in the property at any time or for any reason whatsoever. Failure to comply will result in termination of the tenancy by issue of a s21
