Fence repair problem

Bad storm recently, fence panel came down as posts broke. Reported to landlord on 7th april. Landlord said was on a holiday and would contct us when back. After a week we spotted landlord and husband back from holiday but they hadnt contacted us. We sent another text, landlord sent her husand out to check fence on monday 15th april. He said would get new posts and text me next day. Never heard from him. Text Landlord again on 22nd april “any update about fence” landlord text back would be fixed by end of this week 27th april. We said ok. Received another text from landlord on 26th april saying they will order the posts for fence this tuesday! Same problem with previous repairs. Delays and told different stories. How should we proceed? Fed up constantly texting. Fence panel down means our oil tank is exposed and we worry about oil theft.

I think you can only keep up the gentle cajoling and hope that it gets done soon. Can you cover the tank in the meantime to hide it or perhaps site a security camera with a view of the tank? Clearly you also have the option to give notice at some point if things get too much.

I think the Landlord is clearly not very good at communicating, which isn’t helping this situation.

In reality though, fixing a fence is not a 5 minute job, and even if they were hiring a contractor do it, its only been 20 days since you reported it, and it could easily take more than 20 days to line up a contractor and for them to be available to do the job, a timeline which could easily be affected by weather.

not possible to stick a padlock on it? That’s what my mates do with theirs.
