Gas cooker failed checks

I asked for CP12 + Gas oven/Gas hob) to be certified. CP12 on boiler passed, but on Gas hob he advised remedial works :

  1. “distance from combustible material incorrect (150mm)”.
Lay out is this >> Burners have a gas safe cover that is flush to the kitchen top on both sides, and hence, looking at the burner at eye level, the top of burner is 1cm below the worktop. He declared that the burners need to be at a certain minimum distance from edge of the cabinet ! This is impractical to achieve since the cooker fits tight in the 60 cm space and …erm…I cannot move the burners. Its a standard freestanding oven bought four years ago. He advised me to shave 1.5 cm of the top of the kitchen worktops (on both sides) and fit a metal strip or something to make it look pretty. Can somebody point me to the relevant gas safe law ? Any advice / experience / remedial work ?

  2. “gas supply pipe to cooker not sleeved through wall” > He also noticed that gas pipe leading to this oven is passing through an internal wall. The hole is large enough, but since the copper pipe is exposed to cement all around. Any advice/experience/remedial work ? I did research and the mind boggles - plastic sleeve is combustible, while foam stops the leaked gas to escape. hmm.

ps - if above two are against law then I will rip out the gas oven and replace it with electric. One less regulation to worry about.

The distance are standard for hobs, same would apply for electric hobs so electrician should refuse to fit electric one.

Thanks. Is there any weblink which specifices this regulation / adherance ?

Just google hob safety distances and there will be plenty of sites.

Put a piece of wood, 15mm thick under the cooker so the height isn’t an issue

maybe it has adjustable feet

Not sure I agree with the comment about the electric hob
