Hello, I applied for a property about two weeks ago, did my credit check, references on following day, now verified tenant. Since then I’ve been trying to get in touch via OpenRent email with my perspective landlord as I haven’t heard from anyone yet. Is there any other way how to get in touch with your potential landlord and check on your status? Thank you. Tomas
This doesn’t really make sense.
You have become a verified tenant & enquiried about a property?
Have you viewed the property? You say you have done referencing… I’m assuming you mean to become a verified tenant, rather than referencing for a specific property, having agreed with a Landlord that you are their preferred applicant & paid a holding deposit.
Once you have enquired about a property, all messaging with the Landlord will be via the openrent portal messaging system.
Hi Karl, thank you for your time and sorry for late reply, family troubles.
I got in touch with the landlord finally. I contacted them directly via messaging services at the ad, which was still listed on Spareroom.
My allocation via OpenRent for the same property says I’m verified tenant. As I didn’t hear anything from landlord, I just thought I didn’t get the room.
Now, I’ve paid deposit, secured with some Government’s scheme, then received the contract, the advertisement on Spareroom stated all bills included within month rent, after checking the contract I found a section where it’s written the tenant must pay all bills, electricity, gas, etc., and there is no section saying all bills included at all.
Stuck again, I guess:-)
Thank you again
I’m sorry, I might sound silly, but I’m new to this, first time I’m looking for a place after 20 years in London.
Have you paid just 1 weeks holding deposit? You mention this has been secured via a government fund, but this suggests its a full deposit, but that would not be paid before you had even received a contract.
Have you paid this deposit to Openrent or direct to the Landlord?
Have you visited & viewed this property? If not, and you have paid funds over, STOP, and check you are not being scammed.
Is this a single room within a property, which is likely to include utility costs in the rent, or a standalone house/flat where you would be likely to set up your own utility accounts with suppliers.
& finally, being a verified tenant, does not mean you are getting the property. It just means you have verified some of your personal / income/ credit check information to Openrent, and therefore Landlords might be more confident with you.
