Housing benefit renting

Hello! I was just wondering whether there are any landlords who accept dss? Me and my daughter really need a place to call home :frowning: the council will not help me because I have a job and told me to private rent with the help from dss but no where is accepting me…

I have a guarantor who works and have backup money just in case dss mess up so I wouldn’t miss any payments I just want a home for me and my girl :frowning:

Even after explaining that I wouldn’t miss payments and dss is there just as a little extra help they say yes let’s do a viewing then that’s as far as I get it’s really starting to get me down…

What’s your current living situation? Your best bet may be to lean harder on the council. Shelter is a good resource and citizens advice may be able to help as well.

I hope you can get this resolved soon.

I’ve been down with the council since last year I am living between my parents houses at the moment but now I have a job they’ve told me housing benefit is the way to go, thank you I really do hope I do as well

Ah that’s really rough. They’ll consider you as having a home and you aren’t considered homeless. If your parents are willing to go through the cost they can evict you and the council should take that seriously - but otherwise unfortunately they have to prioritize people who are facing sleeping on the street.

You can save up and offer to pay several months up front. Usually landlords will take that.
