Hi. The last time we put our flat on the market to be let, we had many viewings and offers from prospective tenants in just a couple of days - much sooner than we expected.
We had told everyone that we would make a decision a week later, but came under a lot of pressure to decide sooner, including from some who paid the holding deposit without us requesting it. Basically, we lost control on the process.
We’d very much appreciate your advice on getting this right, this time, so we don’t feel rushed and we treat all the prospective tenants fairly. Thanks
Thanks Colin. Any thoughts on better managing the process? We had people booked in for viewings days ahead, while we already had offers on the table from the earlier viewings. It all got very messy!
we had 104 enquiries on one place with openrent. not one placed a holding deposit first. we asked key questions first before a viewing . How much do earn ?.Is it for yourself only? Do you have any pets? Where do you work? Do you have a guarrantor? Have you rented before? Do you have any CCJ S ?. Do you have children? ? Etc Etc. Ask what ever is pertinent to your property . You will be surprised how many do not answer all the questions or do not earn enough. No need to proceed further . Just say " sorry I cannot help you" Need give no reason We got down to about 15 viewings.
