I am worried and don’t know what to do, this landlord seems to be playing a clever game by telling different stories when it comes to repairs in the house, the bathroom is full of mould since last year winter, she said a leakage need to be repaired as dried which she checked this summer to confirm it’s dry, but still nothing has been done, heating not working, nothing done, driveways not suitable to park a car and we’ve told her since winter last year, she promised to have it done when the sun is out and now saying she can’t find someone to do it, its a whole lot…please any advise
Sounds like you have a duffer. I’d recommnend finding a new place. I know its a pain, but likely your Landlord will not change. There are good Landlords & Bad ones.
Has the drive been that way since you moved in? did you mention it to her then?
If there is no heating i think (i MAY be wrong as im not a landlord) it may be classed as unliveable
I would suggest put everything (including pictures) into an e mail (or if you havent got e mail try whattsap) and send it to her
Out line the issues that you want to tackle the mold before it becomes an even bigger issue
That with winter fast approaching you would appreciate the heating fixing and if possible the driveway made useable (this isnt as big an issue as the other 2 as its not vital u have a drive and surely it mustve been like that when u accepted the property) explain politely that you have asked previously fir works to be carried out (provide proof if u can) and that you would appreciate a response within a set time period (persoanlly i.would say i.wasnt a response withing 7 days explaining what steps if any she will take) meanwhile look for a housing ombudsman contact just incase she ignores you
However
1 how long have u lived there
2 where any of these issues (heating and driveway) mentioned by you when you moved in?
3 take reasonable steps yourself tonprevent the mould growing worse (ventilation etc)
As I said I AM NOT A LANDLORD SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY BE WRONG OR INCORRECT AND AM SURE SOME OF THE EXPERIENCED LL ON HERE WILL OFFER SOME BETTER ADVICE
If you haven’t already done so, you have the option to report the condition of the property to the local authority and ask them to inspect. They have to power to force the landlord to act, but you should be aware that it will likely sour the relationship with the landlord completely.
