Have just been informed that landlord wants to keep some of our deposit to pay for professional cleaning as parts of the house ‘smell of dog’. We didn’t have a dog, nor did one ever come into the house.
How can I prove that we didn’t have a dog?

The onus of proof is on the Landlord for deductions from your deposit. If you disagree, you can refuse & the decision will go to arbitration.
