Severn Trent is replacing all lead pipes with MDPE plastic pipes for free in our area. We have tenants living in our property. If this work happens, does that mean we will have to compensate them for the inconvenience caused by the works?
no explain the health benefits of plastic v lead . If you have ever seen the inside of a lead pipe you would not drink the water They will be replacing just up to the outside wall of your property?

Tap outside and the main pipe inside I think. We will know more after a survey.
any lead inside the property you have to replace yourself . I have replaced lead from house to road and the connection was free . But we did the work in the gardens . So check what they plan to do . It may not be as “free” as you think
I doubt they will be digging up your garden & concrete floor to replace the pipe within your boundary up tpo the internal stop cock… They will likely just be replacing to the stop cock outside your property on the pavement, and no compensation needed for works, as water will likely only be off for max 1/2 hour.
Similar to Colin3, I have dug up one of my property gardens & replaced ground pipework, and then Severn Trent connected it to their network for free.
