Leak /landlord repairs

Hey ,

We have had a leak in to our kitchen from a flat roof , the leak has gone through the light fitting and when we try to turn it on the rcd trips the whole flat , we have told our landlords they sent someone to look who told us to keep the lights switched off at the fuse box but then maintenance have said we’re ok to keep the lights on (bar the kitchen light) even though they haven’t seen the damage and that someone else will be out to fix the electrics , the roof hasn’t been fixed yet so as soon as it rains again it will leak again. Any advice welcomed , how long should the landlords take to fix this/ leave us without any lights

this is crazy to keep the light off because the roof leaks. Roof first then check electric. Get onto landlord every day till he sorts it . (this is a bad time of year to sort a flat roof as it needs to be dry) His problem tho

If its a regular pendant light fitting then the rose is probably full of water.
