Legality around locks on internal doors

Hi,

My tenant has asked to put locks on the bedroom doors. I was worried about fire safety regulations, but from looking online I think it is okay? Whilst I was researching I saw some forums stating that as soon as you put locks on bedroom doors it makes the flat into a HMO - does anyone know if this is true?

They are not planning to sublet are they? I would not do it

Hi Emily, an HMO is defined by the number of tenants and households living in the property, not the presence of locks.
