Letting agencies allowed to operate on OpenRent

The landlord https://www.openrent.co.uk/Account/View/14416 is clearly operated by the agency https://www.london-cribs.com/: their 300+ properties are all advertised here, they use their logo as profile picture FFS. Is that legal?

Hi Giorgio,

OpenRent is a platform for private landlords, and users have to confirm they are the landlord of the property when listing with us.

However, some landlords do choose to use high street agents to help with viewings and other services, so this may explain what happened in this case. This isn’t a problem from our perspective, as long as tenants aren’t being charged fees (beyond a maximum of £20 per person for referencing).

Please do let us know if we can help with anything else.

Kind Regards,
George

George I thought you could not charge even the £20 for referencing?

Hi Colin,

Yes this is now true. George’s post was from January, back before the commencement date off the Tenant Fees Act.
