This is OR’s description of ‘how it works’:

To start the Rent Now process the landlord needs an OpenRent listing for the property (You can add a listing here).

The tenant begins Rent Now by clicking the green ‘Rent Now’ button on the OpenRent listing.

They will be asked to pay a holding deposit of one week’s rent by debit card to confirm their application for the property. The landlord will be notified via SMS and email as soon as the holding deposit is paid, and can then immediately choose whether to accept the application, and if so whether referencing is required.

Doesn’t the prospective tenant have to view the property first? When does that happen?

I’m new to OpenRent; hence the question. There is nothing in the text about when the viewing takes place or how enquiries are handled by OpenRent.

Enquiries are not handled by openrent. This is a self-manage arrangement. All enquiries you will be able to view & reply to online. You can do whatever you wish, Incl viewings etc), and when you are ready, ask the tenant to click ’ rent Now’ & pay the holding deposit.
