I viewed a property on 11/03 and the next day I contacted the LL via OpenRent to express my interest in applying for the property. He subsequently sent me an email containing an application form to fill out. I completed the form and sent it off to the LL the same day.
It’s now the 20th and I’ve yet to hear back from the LL. According to the listing, the property is available to move in from the 21st of March, which is tomorrow.
Given the amount of time that has now passed since I sent my application, would it be appropriate to follow up with the LL to see where I stand with my application? Or should I assume that he has decided to proceed with another application?
I’d appreciate the input of landlords regarding this as I’m unsure as to how long the referencing process typically takes to complete.

Follow up. No harm in doing so

Yes you can follow up with the LL. But all I’d say is that if the LL really wanted you in the property they would have immediately been in touch with you. Never stop looking for a property until you sign a tenancy agreement and have got keys.

You need to be applying for multiple properties at once. Sounds lije the landlord is keeping you as a backup.

It’s rare to find a LL/agent willing to accommodate my circumstances AND a property in a functional condition but otherwise I agree.
Funnily enough, I’ve just received an email from the LL declining my offer but asking to keep my details in case anything changes. Of course I agreed as you never know if the situation might change.

The landlord isn’t legally obliged to accept any application-remember his property costs ££££’s so if it were you? Maybe you wouldn’t rush in either
