please help with notice period advice. I was on an AST for 12 months which ended on July 28. There was a clause in the contract saying that when the period expired it would be a contractual periodic tenancy. In the main contract it said the tenant had to give one month, but then a custom clause added saying two months. Do I have to give two months notice? On my OpenRent landing page it says I am on periodic and have to give one months notice. I am so confused.
Openrent will only show on their screen as per the standard terms and conditions. Their system will not know about any random custom clauses that the landlord has added.
Whether the standard or custom clause takes precedence in this case will be difficult to judge, & might depend on how well that custom clause is written.
Can you copy & paste the custom clause here?
