My brother has recently died, so I am a very new landlord. My question is;; is it worth taking out rent guarantee insurance. With respect to the insurance company ? Do they pay up quickly, or do they try their utmost to find small print clauses to refuse the claim ?
Like any insurance firm they will have very tight and limited criteria.
The tenant choice must meet their requirements.
Personally I never bother but as a new landlord it would perhaps be sensible.

Hi Antony. I use Rent and Legal insurance. Tenants go have to meet criteria, but it’s not too strict. I used Alan Boswell for all my let property insurance.
To qualify for RGI you really need a referencing report showing no ccj, bankruptcy as well as tenants earnig 2.5x monthly rent.
