Hi, I am going to increase the rent on a periodic tenancy. Do I have to issue a new AST showing the revised monthly rent or will a letter detailing the increase and signed by both tenants and landlord suffice? Many thanks.

You can agree an increase in the rental amount in writing, for instance by email.
Once the tenant agrees to this and makes the first payment of the new rental amount, you’re good to go! That’ll be the new rent going forward.
