Rent payment after moving in

It annoys me because every1thinks landlords are rolling in it. Its not like u can tell u r mortgage company can i miss a week. Tell them u r willing to move the date but uve gotta psy 4 the week. Theres always teething probs when 1st getting a tenant so just explain. Could turn out to be best tenant uve had

Can you not use the monthly amount tonwork out a weekly payment and ask them to cover the 6 days with that payment

I have to agree with you. why on earth is this even a question from a Landlord! With respect of course, but seriously, everyone knows - you pay when you move in - that’s the contract. full stop.

Not a good idea as nice as they may seem. If they can’t fulfil your financial expectations from day one which should include the ability to pay a deposit and the first month’s rent thereafter then there’s something wrong with their financial status. Your AST can’t officially begin until they moved in, paid the first month’s rent as well as all the other essential paper work issued on the first day, things such as the inventory, EPC, energy certs, etc. So that means you have no protection if they move in, including their signatures to accept the AST. A fiasco waiting to happen.

Spot on.

The only way to deal with it, especially since you’ve taken his deposit so you can hardly refuse to rent to him now.

We need to change your log in name to Scrooge… :santa:

Merry Christmas Colin.

Hi Girish,
do you know how to cannel a payment

Nooooooooo as colin3 said no cash reserves is a red flag. Personally i take two months rent up front as a financial test bar if you will.
I you do this and then dont pay you have only yourself to blame
Oh to move in on xmas day is also a red flag unless moslem , hindu etc where the day has not the same meaning

Thanks all for the suggestions and replies.

He has now paid the rent for the month in advance.

Yes, he is moving in on 25th as he does not celebrate Christmas.
