Our tenant recently vacated the property at the end of the fixed period of her AST but has left furniture and belongings behind in the property. The property was rented unfurnished. The AST agreement is silent on the matter (we won’t make the mistake again!) so what can we legally do about this? Can we simply remove and dispose of the furniture and property?
if they have given you the keys back . i would ask them do they still want their stuff. If they say no just sling it
If your TA is silent then I would suggest you keep it for up to a month whilst trying multiple times to return their goods. If they say they don’t want the stuff, have an independent witness or get it in writing.
