I just let my flat less than a week ago to a family, I was feeling a little uneasy as they did not want to connect to open banking to verify their income and open rent was not able to verify their references - but I did get their ID and right to stay.
As a compromise, we agreed to 3 months ’ rent in advance which they paid.
Within the first week, the Husband had said that they were breaking up that the wife was not moving in, and that he wanted to take the wife off the tenancy.
Feel quite uncomfortable with this as my intention was to rent it to a family and now this is not the case.
Am I able to terminate the contract based on these grounds?
The Husband is saying he will still keep the flat, however, I don’t want this to be forced into a tenancy that was different from its original intention.
