UK citizen returning

Hi
I am 69 and a UK citizen. I have lived in Ireland for 15 years for my husbands job.
I am widowed now and I want to go home. I need to rent until I can find a residential over 60 home.
I can pay a year up front in place if showing an income.
I cant get agencies to provide me in what I need to do. They keep saying a referencing company with do checks but how can they if i live in a different country.
I have a UK passport, excellent landlord references, i can get a credit score which will be very good. I can provide bank statements which are healthy (bulk of my money is in gold).
I dont have anyone in the UK who could be a guarantee.
Any advice please?

Hi Carol

UK referencing agencies won’t normally be able to track your credit profile in Ireland. However , this is just one aspect of referencing. Having UK photo ID, bank statements, proof of income/pension, previous landlord references should all help. I guess some if not all the letting agents won’t bend their strict criteria. You will stand a better chance with a private landlord such as those who advertise on this platform. I have also heard of companies that offer guarantor services for a fee. I don’t know if this might be a viable option.

I hope that helps
Good luck.
