UK phone number issue to book viewings

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here because I’ve been having an ongoing issue with some UK rental websites, especially when trying to book a property viewing.

The issue is simple: I don’t have a UK phone number, only a French one. Apparently, to verify your email and then book a viewing with a letting agent, you need a UK number.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Did you find a solution to get around this requirement (e.g. UK eSIM, temporary number, another method)?

Or do you know of any agency that is more flexible about this?

As landlords we get a lot of timewasters not showing up for viewings.If a rental agent booked a viewing with someone not even in the country and wasted my time I would be pretty angry with the agent. So why would anyone give a viewing to someone not even in the country, or who gives appearance of not being in the country? Get a UK e-SIM.

We too have questions for the landlord and not to schedule a site review. UK phone numbers are required just to communicate with the landlord. Anyone have away to communicate with the landlord without a UK phone number?

This issue comes up regularly. You can download an esim can with a UK number. Please do some research as I have never had to use one.
