Under offer status

Due to view a property tomorrow but the status now shows as ‘under offer’
We haven’t been advised that we can still view, and actually I have also done a ‘dummy’ holding deposit and it allows me right up to the payment page.
Does the status automatically change to ‘under offer’ if someone does the holding deposit regardless of if the landlord is happy?
Should I be worried? We are desperate for this property.

Message landlord direct

As far as I know, it will only change to ‘under offer’ once the Landlord has accepted a holding deposit, and hence has decided to proceed with one applicant.

As Mark says, message Landlord to ask.

Not true - we didn’t even know our property was under offer! An applicant had made an offer via their portal. We have not met the applicant nor do we want to use OpenRent referencing. Easily remedied by declining the application and contacting the individual. Our case - received a viewing request via OpenRent application, offered their referencing that we did not want. A few days later without viewing or any deposit (we didn’t ask for any) we checked our ad as no enquiries and it was under offer. We were confused as we certainly wouldn’t apply for a property under offer.

As a landlord, I was surprised that my property said “Under Offer”. I had offered a viewing to the applicant - he applied using an application from OpenRent that I had not opted in for. Not sure if this was because OpenRent was offering their tenant referencing that we don’t need. Anyhow, after having a steady stream of enquiries, we were quiet. I checked our property and it was under offer that we had no knowledge of. We had not requested a holding deposit. Whatever actions were on the part of the prospective renter and from info on the blog we mangaged to get rid of “Under Offer”. However, it is worth doing your own due diligence as this is our experience.
