Worst time to be evected at the moment

Yeah it’s hard… We are kinda are getting rejected by landlords that we have todller. We only can afford 1 bedroom flat… But we still looking… Fingers crossed…
I hope you will find something as well.

My husband is kind panicking and wants to rent anything on the market that even its overpriced and doesn’t fit us… Im telling him till I don’t have the paper in my hands I’m not moving out… He is too kind hearted person. She just send us picture with his name my name not even on the paper even we both are renting…

Why don’t you ask him to call Shelter and describe your situation? They are quite capable of turning almost any kind hearted person into someone who does what needs to be done.

I agree, I don’t think she wants to lose the rent till the property is sold and in with the deeds office. So I would work on approx 2/3 months before eviction.

Yes snap same position, Section 21 as landlord supposedly selling (or realises he can get more rent as my Son has moved out!) Never missed a rent payment in 20 years but l have a 14 year old dog & rents are ridiculous.

I feel sorry for you I hope you will find place to live… Rents are all time hight and we went to viewing for one place at landlord said she has 40 people just for today…

Well my husband asked for more time to find place. And landlady turns out took a load and wanna sell place as soon as possible. Plus she already send agent to check the place. I talk to agent he will suggested her to not sell place till we move out. But we can’t find anything on our budget. And landlors don’t wanna todller in there properties…

We should… I just wanna safe places for my daughter. Thanks for support

Brigita, I understand why you feel panic, and your husband too. But your landlord is incompetent and does not know the rules. Read what others have said. The eviction process does not start until you have a completely valid s21 notice properly served on you. It sounds to me as though this landlord might get the s21 notice wrong when they eventually serve it on you, in which case say nothing, just keep your mouth shut, and wait for the landlord to find out when the matter gets to court and they are told to start again from the beginning. Keep paying the rent. Even if the landlord gets the s21 notice right it will take months before you receive a legally enforceable eviction date. Meanwhile, as well as looking for somewhere new, pester your MP because a principal cause of the current shortage is that many landlords are trying to do the same as your landlord - many of us are getting out as quick as we can because the existing rules are bad enough but the new rules will be intolerable. The government needs to give up its mad ideas or there will be hardly any private houses and flats to rent - possibly even none at all.

A lot of landlords are selling up at the moment. There seems to of been a constant and increased attack on landlords over the last few years, and many have had enough. Many people seem to think that it’s an easy way to make money, which it can be, however there are so many ways in which you can also lose money. There are other ways to invest hard earned money and the more landlords feel oppressed, the more they are likely to sell up.

While I do sympathise with your situation, I’m afraid that the situation is only going to get worse.

Part of the problem is that as housing stock diminishes, landlords can afford to pick and choose who to house. Some tenants are even said to get into bidding wars with other tenants which drives up average rents.
The government seems hell bench on removing the private rental sector in favour of large corporations and banks, this will be easier for the government to manage, but ultimately give tenants less chose.

Have you tried your local council. Im in a different area but i got evicted. Im currently in a hostel but after 54 days of being here i should be on the priority list, fingers crossed.
Dont give up, im.sure there is a solution for you. I prey you find somewhere asap x

We try to contact council but they don’t care. So we are looking for places that we can afford are booking views. To make sure fits our needs. We bit to few of them. And I’m so surprised that landlords would charge that much money just for crappie place. Fingers crossed I hope we will be lucky and fast to sucured the the property because the market at the moment is crazy…

Well we live in this property 7 years. Always paid rent on time. All the time aggred with increased rent. Never gave a problems to landlord. She just selling because she said needs money… It would be nice if she gave up more time then two months. Because we told her that we struggle to find a place where they would accept that we have todller.

7 years ago was so easy to find a rent. We could choose from few different places at once. Now you all the time have check apps if something pops up and all agents as soon as possible to book a viewing. Try to put holding the deposit and hope that some else didn’t put it at the same time and off bit you. It’s really hard.

crazy market because of all the laws favouring tenants who do not pay rent . It will not get better. Housing associations are owed millions . Landlords are selling up I could say a lot more but then someone may say I am grumpy !!

Yeah I understand but the honest renter for that reason can’t find decent place to live. To me this period is more stressful then pandemic. And work through all the pandemic in supply chains went to work every day when everyone was sitting at home.

I too work as a key worker, it’s hard work, and often unappreciated. Please speak to your MP, because the issue is 100% with the government and the way they are clobbering landlords.

I feel so sorry for you, and wish you all the luck in the world that you find a new home very soon. It must be so stressful. Wishing you find a new home very soon.

I was not sitting at home I was as busy as ever and received a grant off the gov. to keep my business going, I did well . But i know quite a few who struggled and a few who died.
