Advice on what next to do

I am Temitope Johnson, I have an ongoing application for the 2 bedroom.

As of the 19th of December 2024, all references were cleared, and I notified the landlord so that he could decide whether to proceed with us or not. The landlord went silent on me from the 19th of December until the 24th of December 2024 when he eventually initiated the contract.

My husband, myself and our guarantor signed the contract the same day we received it, and since the 24th of December till today, the 31st of December, the landlord has gone silent on us again despite sending countless messages to remind him he should sign the contract.

Even though I could see that he’s a new landlord at Openrent, we trusted Openrent to have done due diligence on who uses their service. Action such as this from prospective landlords isn’t projecting a good look to your brand.

I have a 5-month-old baby at hand, and we primarily need a bigger space because of her, my husband has taken leave at work so we can move in on the 10th of January 2025 as proposed, we have notified our present letting agent we are moving out and yet our prospective landlord dragging of legs is affecting our plans.

I’ve requested his mobile number for faster communication but all to no avail; if he doesn’t want to give us the house, it’s OK, but we need him to cancel it from his end because I won’t be losing our initial deposit to him.

I would be glad if Openrent could contact him to do the needful, please, and if this deal does not pull through, I hope he gets sanctions and we can get back our initial deposit.
