Viewed a property on Saturday had a text Sunday asking when we could move it to go forward with this property received a text Monday morning from Olivia saying that she had a ‘headache’ and asking my partner if his partner was someone else after my partner responding to her she replied to say she had since offered the property to another person after giving us the go ahead to have this property! She tried to say I had been in contact with her saying we couldn’t move in for a month, I have never had any correspondence with her and it was my partner that applied for the property! She then stated in text that we was her first choice and she had mistakenly offered the wrong couple the property!! Absolutely vile to person to do this to us!l when she had offered it to us first anyway. She should have had the decency to contact the other couple to tell them they couldn’t have it. Will be avoiding using this site for future renting if this is the sort of people they advertise for!! Seems she just wanted the first people she could to move in for the money. We are now back to square one of living on someone’s couch with a 3 week old baby!! Absolutely disgusting to get our hopes up like that thinking we had the place! Also smelt of alcohol on the viewing
Didn’t landlord offer it subject to you passing referencing? Sounds like ll got who’s who mixed up.
This has nothing at all to do with the openrent platform, so blaming them is unreasonable.
well, to be fair, Olivia only asked when you could “move it to go forward” which means simply starting the application process which you might have failed anyway. It wasn’t an indication that you “had the place”. Don’t ever get your hopes up about a property until you sign the tenancy agreement… in fact, probably even then.
And if you are “avoiding this site for future renting” you’ll actually be back further behind than square one as OpenRent is one of the web’s leading places to find accommodation.
If you want to secure a place then ask the LL to let you pay a holding deposit. That will prevent them from advertising it to anyone else until your application is successful or not.
