Hi all, first post on here and after a little advice.Ive just advertised a property and have received a lot of interest from people who are not UK citizens but have BRP (Biometric passport?) .A couple have offered 6months rent upfront and a UK guarantor.I presume if I try to reference the BRP holder it’ll come back blank as they’re only just arrived in UK. Can I take it that the home office will have carried out various checks before granting this immigration status and should I concentrate on reference checking the guarantor. Obviously the 6 month’s rent up front is very appealing. Thanks D.
Don’t go there, what happens after 6months ? Plenty of choice out there
You can’t take it the Home Office has done anything.
You need to check their papers and passports and right to rent and make a copy for your records.
If you are unsure of anything you can phone the Home office for advice.
These BRP vary . You can check these persons out on the goverment website using the details on the BRP
You would need a share code from them. Other methods are no longer acceptable.
6 months ago I checked the Right to Rent of two tenants using the Landlord Checking Service hosted by the UK Visa and Immigration dept of the Home Office. It was very straightforward and took about 3 days to get an answer.
I didn’t need to use a share code, btw
Its all changed recently. Foreign nationals need a share code.
How recently please ?
6 April. Do a google search on recent changes to right to rent.
Thank you for the heads up
