Hi all.
Tenant gave one month’s notice instead of two to leave mid tenancy which I’ve agreed to. If I relist the property to rent, would it be reasonable for me to ask tenants to allow viewings prior to their departure? Thanks, Sue
you should have something in your AST to that effect. Most standard ASTs do. Have you checked?
It’s typical to have viewings while the outgoing tenant is in place in this scenario so let your tenant know that this is your plan. The viewings should not be unduly burdensome on the tenant although they have broken contract so can’t really ask too much here. You’d need to give the tenant 24 hours’ notice before each viewing and accompany the applicant on the viewing.
You probably can, but much better to wait until the tenant has gone & you’ve given the property the once over!
Hi Tatemono. Many thanks for your response. Ah, yes, I now see this is mentioned in the AST. I messaged the tenant and he’s confirmed he is indeed fine about allowing viewings to take place. Thanks again, Sue
I have a few tenants who really keep the house looking super nice. They’re very house proud and their stuff really adds to the property and it makes it much more sellable with their stuff in it than if the property is empty. So, it really does depend on whether you have a classy tenant or not.
