Cash deposit from landlord

I saw a property for rent on open rent here, i went for viewing after 2weeks i got a message from the agent/landlord that we can pay holding fee but will be in cash, i paid the cash and made a vídeo record of the transaction as the lady has been hiding her number to call me, after giving her the cash she gave me a form to sign, the form as just email with no contact. Some minutes later she called with a private number as usual that the landlord is upset that i made a video of her and the apartment, because of this she wants to make a refund.

Does it mean i have been scam or its not right to make video so i can have a proof of payment since the holding deposit was paid in cash.

All this was done in the apartment as she has the key.

get the refund back then

I don’t have her contact, she’s not replying her message

scam Cash not traceable Should have had alarm bells ringing ALWAYS pay thru Openrent

It doesn’t sound like you have been scammed if they are offering a refund. Scammers don’t normally refund, unless of course they are not a very good one, and feel you have caught them red handed.

They have obviously taken offence to you recording, but this does not seem unreasonable to me, given that you would require some proof of payment.

Question yourself. If the LL is offended by this, are they the sort of person you wanted to be renting from.

You are right, i feel she has been caught because i have video evidence.

I am waiting for her to refund as i have provided my bank details
