So, does it matter if the tenant or my self the landlord let’s the local council know that a tenancy is coming to and end.
My feeling is I should be doing it also I have already asked them for a forwarding address which they haven’t provided yet.
Do it yourself so you know it’s done accurately

Informing council that you are now responsible for CT is in effect the same thing as having the tenant tell them they are leaving.
I always email the council when a tenant moves in or moves out of any of my properties.
I do not concern myself with notifying them of previous or forwarding addresses.
