Do I need to be a tenant or landlord to publish listening

Hi!

I have uploaded my house 3x in the past month and days it’s publishing then leads me to an empty page of chat bot.

Can I published as a tenant or do I need to be a landlord I see one subscription is free?

Need to get it up asap for a short term month let!

Hi Georgia

I presume you are posting using Conrad’s 2 account. Anyway, you are usually required to provide proof of ownership especially so if you want to upgrade your listing to include Rightmove and Zoopla. The minimum tenancy is six months. If you want to rent a property for less it would be considered a short-term let which is covered by a different set of rules which Openrent do not cater for. Airbnb and Booking.com are just two of the platforms that cater for short-term or holiday let’s.

Good luck!

Short term 1 months let. You need a holiday let site, but I doubt its worth it if this is just for a one-off.

Thanks Chris!

6 months is fine.

I am the tenant but it said upon uploading are you tenant or landlord so I presumed this fine!

Am I wrong I need proof of ownership to upload

Trying to get it uploaded ASAP

possibly @mod_harry can help you but openrent advertise their listing service as for private landlords so doubt this is for you as you won’t have proof of ownership.

“OpenRent asks for proof of ownership primarily to prevent scams, protect tenants from fraud (like subletting or fake landlords), and verify that the person listing the property has the legal right to rent it out, ensuring legitimacy and building trust in their platform.”

As a tenant you don’t own the property so why do you think you can advertise it to rent it out ie sublet it? Check your tenancy agreement, most explicitly forbid subletting.

If Conrad2 is the LL they need to do the listing and provide the proof of ownership themselves. Otherwise any potential tenant will suspect a scam.

Good luck

Hi really helpful.

What it gave me the option as the tenant or the landlord and one subscription was 0 pounds and the other is about 20.

I have written permission for my landlord. Is that not possible?

Every time I go into the details of the house and upload it, it’s publishing and then I never hear back and when I do look on the page so it appears not me as the tenant or the landlord right now

Think you need to take it up with OR their customer service is via ‘"contact us’ faqs at bottom of OR Faqs page.

Think most tenants will want to deal with the actual landlord tho - how will they or OR know if they can trust your ‘written permission from the LL’. And if anything goes wrong or needs repairs as the tenant not the LL you can’t fix can you ?

Don’t think OR is set up to encourage or facilitate subletting even tho their sample AST does allow it with LL permission.

Good luck

Can’t see the contact us do you have a link!

Cheers David

Select the help menu option, then ‘send a message’

@Conrad2

Google ‘openrent faqs’ click link and scroll to bottom of page

Good luck

Hi @Conrad2

If you are not the landlord, you will need to provide proof that you have permission to list the property on behalf of the landlord.

Yes I have permission

I published the post

And haven’t heard back as to why it hasn’t published so I can’t even do that next step

@Conrad2 saying you have permission isn’t the same as providing it to OR is it? Ask OR support or @mod_harry how you can provide the proof to them?

They will still need proof the LL owns the property as well from the LL

Good luck
