I’m not clear who should provide the right to rent documentation to a tenant?
Does open rent send this via email once a tenant has signed their AST or should I be sending this link via email once a tenant has signed an AST. I just want to be clear so I don’t in the future fall in a trap of not having sent it should I need to give notice
Hi Tracey,
Apologies for the slow reply – I’ve been on holiday.
I’m not sure what you mean by the right to rent documentation? Landlords must perform the right to rent check, either in person or online as described here.
The checks consist of inspecting the tenant’s documents, and the landlord should take a copy and make a note of which documents were presented.

Perfect thanks for clarification
The tenant has to be given a HOW to Rent guide. Tho it beats me how anyone would need a guide on how to be a good individual.

Ah yes – @Blondie.1 just in case you did mean the ‘How to Rent’ guide, yes we do serve that document to the tenants on your behalf if you use our Rent Now tenancy setup service.
