Elec certs for smokies and emergency lighting

Hullo all. Just had a cert, for the emergency lighting ,smokies in a house with 3 self contained flats. in the common hallway of course., and a heat and smokie in each flat. Elec .man said it could only be for one year not the 5 . Is this correct? and said it had to be tested every week !! By me.

What type of certificate is it ?

Fire certs are one year only ( they have to be because of battery exp dates ) . Emergency lights are every year too
EICr up to 5 years
You don’t have to test every week
You do it every three months on your routine inspection

Fire detection and Alarm system inspection and servicing report with a FSM6 printed above

I thought a week was ridiculous. Tenants would be up the wall.

You would be up the wall too

My emergency lighting in my hmo is tested annually by sparky, and I check myself monthly. . Function chk monthly, 1 hr test 6-monthly. 3 hour test annually.

Alarm system is tested 6- monthly by sparky. I check call points fortnightly. To be honest, I think this should be weekly, but I’ve made it fortnightly in my fire risk assessment.
