I made application for selective licencing and got confused with questions like:

  1. provided with clear written instructions in case of fire.
  2. checked that bedrooms don’t lead to the kitchen.
  3. checked the smoke alarm on the ground floor and first floor. the carbon monoxide alarm next to the boiler.
    Has anyone got fire risk assessment done or given written instructions? On NRLA website Gas 2 safe team has quoted 250 pounds plus VAT for fire risk assessment.

If you contact your local authority they will give this to you for free
You can do a fire risk assessment yourself
Check fire alarms in date and working
All hardwired and interconnected
Check all windows are egress compliant , have restrictors keys are in locks unless otherwise specified
Check all external doors have internal thumb locking
Homestamp or lacors will give you additional info depending upon your property layout
