Furniture dispute

Hi I’ve new tenants in. They did not like most of my furniture so I had it removed and it is now in storage. I repaired a sofa that has a lot of life still in it and they agreed to keep it and now they don’t want it and want me to replace it with a new one and have complained there are no new pieces of furniture in the house.

Apparently they mentioned. Of wanting the sofa to the agency but all they stipulated was that they wanted the fencing fixed which I fixed. Now I have been sent a barrage of texts about how unkempt my house is and that he would like more repairs and replacements done.

Did you let your house furnished or unfurnished? Have you got records of them asking you to remove the furniture that was in place?

Presumably, the furniture in place, was as in place during their viewing, so they knew what they were getting?

They saw the house with the current furniture. Some of the furniture is antique and they asked for some pieces go and I offered to refurbish the items that just needed repainting and one needed a leg gluing back. I’ve taken them away. The sofa was made good and they want me to buy them a new one. I’ve said no.

i never rent furnished . stick to your guns . They saw all the furniture and signed up ,as Karl said now they want different furniture. trouble ahead if you give in It is a bit like when you buy a house , after a while you spot things that you never saw before you bought. Same with renting a place, up to you about repairs.

You are not obliged to replace or remove the furniture unless its is dangerous to use. Is the sofa fire retardent? Does it have a label confirming this? If there is other disrepair in the property then you are obliged to address this.

it does have a label and it just has cat nail tears which I covered well and repaired for them. They’re not getting any item replaced.
